500 scientists have contradicted climate change in an open letter. This information has been found more frequently on social media in the last few weeks.
This open letter, which according to the company's own statements was signed by 500 scientists, is so far a real document. This letter can be viewed publicly ( here is the link ).
The letter argues that there is no climate crisis. According to the signatories, current climate policy would undermine the economic system and endanger people's lives.

The letter contains 6 theses, each of which is briefly justified. According to their own statements, the signatories are more than 500 knowledgeable and experienced scientists and experts from the climate and similar fields.
The fact check
The Correctiv has drawn a conclusion on this open letter in a very detailed fact check. The rating is:
Partially wrong. It's not 500 scientists. In addition, the statements in the letter sometimes leave out the context of previous research or the assessment of official bodies and are therefore misleading.
Correctiv also briefly checked the 6 theses stated in the open letter in the fact check, or at this point they refer to a fact check by the fact checkers from “Climate Feedback”.
They come to the conclusion that the overall scientific credibility of the letter can be classified as “very low”. A majority of the fact-checkers they use describe the theses as distorted, cherry-picking, too inaccurate and misleading.

Six scientists analyzed the letter and estimated its overall scientific credibility to be 'very low'.
A majority of reviewers tagged the article as: Biased, Cherry-picking, Inaccurate, Misleading.
500 Scientists: This has been checked
The corrective also goes into the background of the letter. Important clues at this point: What is the motivation behind the letter and who are the signatories?
What is particularly exciting here is that many of the 500 scientists (according to their own statements) are not scientists at all or have any expertise relevant to the topic. In addition to many climate deniers and lobbyists who have been known for years, there are also people without the relevant primary specialist knowledge.
The full and detailed fact check (please read on this topic) can be found on the Correctiv website in an article entitled “Open letter on climate change: Neither “500 scientists” have signed, nor are all the claims true” ( here ).
