It's cruel, it's relentless, it's simply impossible to imagine the Internet without it - The most annoying virus after herpes: Marcel Hohmann!
First of all, we would like to apologize for the harsh words to all the real Marcel Hohmanns out there:
It's not your fault!
You are not viruses! You are special, each in your own way! Some of you are really great guys, others maybe not so nice. But there's one thing you're definitely not: viruses!
But maybe at some point someone came across a less nice Marcel Hohmann. Maybe this person wanted to get one over on Marcel. Maybe there was once a Marcel Hohmann who harassed women on Facebook. Maybe, maybe, maybe… we will probably never know the true background.
Not maybe, but definitely, this warning keeps popping up on Facebook:

Please tell everyone on your list not to accept contact with 'Marcel Hohmann'! This is a virus (via WhatsApp, etc.) that destroys the entire hard drive and downloads the data. If one of your contacts catches it, you will also be affected because it eats its way through the list! so copy and send!!! If the number 065420164 calls you, don't answer it! Is a hacker and all your contacts will be affected too! It was also confirmed by EUROP1 and RTL this morning!
Forward
I just received a request on Facebook, friends don't accept it, I think it belongs there

Straight? When was “just”?
Somehow we can't quite believe that someone "just" received this friend request. Unless this is a screenshot that was taken far in the past (before 2015 to be precise), because somehow Facebook doesn't look like that anymore!

The distribution of the screenshot, which apparently many users saved on their hard drives, may also be thanks to Carmen Geiss Now the Geissens are known for all sorts of things (for what exactly, apart from being rich?), but internet skills are probably not one of them:

And? Is it a “virus” now?
No! Because this “Marcel Hohmann virus” doesn’t even exist!
in August 2011 with a “Christian Wick” before he mutated into “Marcel Hohmann”, a little later the ominous phone number was added, which, at least at that time, actually belonged to a dubious call center (but they weren't and aren't hackers either “Marcel Hohmann” was their name.
So again:
- Marcel Hohmann is not a virus. At most he could be a user.
- He also cannot destroy a hard drive or download any data.
- Even if a friend had “Marcel” as a “friend,” they still wouldn’t have access to your data.
- “Because he eats his way through the list….” We hope Marcel doesn't choke and gets a full stomach!

Conclusion
We kind of like Marcel Hohmann . It has become a bit of a part of the Mimikama family, the unknown user who only eats lists at the dinner table, then destroys the hard drive and probably secretly switches the coffee machine to "decaf" if you're not careful.
Oh, that rascal!
At some point perhaps this “virus” will also be defeated, then we will certainly look back on it wistfully. “Do you remember back then, Marcel Hohmann?
Those were the days…,” we will whisper to ourselves in our rocking chairs with gray hair. But there still seems to be a long way to go until then!
