A fake Cineplexx page on Facebook lures users with a competition to lure them into a subscription trap.

The Facebook page “Cineplexx Austria” promises two cinema vouchers including popcorn and drinks.

But be careful - the page is fake and does not come from Cineplexx itself. Here is the real Cineplexx Facebook page . The status post only serves as bait to attract users.

Note: Lead generation is about attracting prospects. The competition only serves as bait, because the supposed raffle date is often far in the future and the participant is supposed to make their data available to a list of sponsors or take out an expensive subscription. Such competitions have been available on Facebook for years.

Participation should take place directly with a comment. Anyone who comments will receive a prompt response: You should follow a link.

Supposedly there would be a booking fee of 3 euros to win... and then the trap slams shut!

Don't forget the fine print!

If you are about to hand over your data willingly, you should definitely read the small print beforehand:

All new customers take part in the raffle for the campaign product shown. If you are one of the lucky winners, you will be contacted directly by email. This special offer includes a 3-day trial of an affiliated subscription service. Your credit card will then automatically be charged the monthly subscription fee (85 EUR). If for any reason you are not satisfied with the service, you may cancel with 3 days' notice. The subscription renews monthly unless canceled. This campaign expires December 31, 2019.

There are subscription fees of 85 euros per month behind the whole competition! A bit expensive for a potential chance of winning two movie tickets - even if popcorn and drinks are included.
