Time and time again, mainly older people receive a call from the police. But these are telephone scammers who urge people to hand over valuables.
The police repeatedly warn against trick fraud, which primarily targets senior citizens. Telephone scams have been a hot topic for years and the scammers are becoming more and more bold.
As the Reutlingen police explained via Facebook, con artists brazenly try to put their victims under pressure in order to steal their savings. The police crime prevention department also produced a video about this:

What you are hearing is a real call intended to rip off an older woman, verified 1 to 1 by the prevention professionals. In this case, we were able to prevent the lady from being deprived of her valuables because the senior citizen was well informed and reacted in exactly the right way.
But this only works if you and your grandmas, grandpas, parents, aunts, uncles and neighbors know about it.
Therefore remember:
- We never call 110!
- Don't let yourself be put under pressure on the phone. Just hang up.
- Be suspicious. Especially when it comes to demands for
quick decisions, contacting strangers and
handing over personal data, cash, jewelry or valuables. - If you have the slightest suspicion, call 110 or the local station. Never use the callback button, otherwise you will end up back with the perpetrators.
- Your personal and financial circumstances are taboo for strangers.
- Talk to your family or people you trust if you are unsure. Especially when a caller demands exactly the opposite from you.
