We are increasingly receiving complaints from Facebook users who are added to groups without being asked.
Depending on the name of the group, this can be uncomfortable because, depending on your privacy settings, it can also be visible to friends. So what can you do to prevent this from happening in the future?
We explain it to you:
Unfortunately, there is no option in which this can be generally prohibited.

You were added by a friend, don't panic. First click on the notification, the following image appears:

Here you now have the option to join the group or decline the invitation. As long as you don't click anything, you will still be listed as group members. From now on you will also receive constant information about new group posts in your timeline.
If you click on “Join group”, you can leave the group by clicking on the “Joined” status and clicking on “Unsubscribe to group” and “Leave group”. You are no longer part of the group.

In a further step you can even prevent yourself from being added again. To do this, simply check the box next to “Prevent other members from adding you to this group again.” From then on, only you can actively join the group.

What is the alternative? You could simply decline the invitation, in which case the person inviting you will not receive any information about it. Con: She can re-invite you at any time, so declining doesn't protect you from being added again. We therefore recommend the first variant.
