Warnings are currently circulating, mainly via the WhatsApp messenger service, about a man who, as the alleged driver of the NEW, is currently speaking to children in order to lure them into his car. The police have determined that this is NOT true. Please do not share this warning!
The starting point is likely to be a case in which the driver of a vehicle with NEW printing actually told a child at a bus stop on Monday evening, May 2nd, that he was driving her home. This incident was reported to the police the following day.
According to the current state of the investigation, this was a misunderstanding: In order to prevent the impending failure of regular buses for technical or personnel reasons, the NEW uses replacement vehicles at short notice. This was confirmed to be the case here too.
To date, NO further incidents of this kind have been reported to the police!
Warning each other about dangers can be very helpful. However, if information takes on a life of its own, it can also lead to false information and other alleged crime scenes being created. The population is becoming extremely insecure! The work of the police, who naturally take such incidents very seriously, is also made more difficult.
Please be careful about what you share and spread. Be careful not to add any information!
There is currently no risk that someone in a fake NEW vehicle would approach children. If there are people who can provide reliable first-hand information about such a matter, they are asked to contact the police on 02161-290.
