Nasty thing: Scammers try to mislead users by making them believe that the user is one of 10 winners of an ALDI Christmas drawing.
But this is just a pretext to lead the user into both a phishing and subscription trap. The ALDI Christmas drawing is just a pretext and the supposed prize turns out to be too
The fake email reads as follows:
Dear XXXXX?
I am pleased to email you to inform you that we have just confirmed you as one of the 10 winners of this month's ALDI Christmas draw.
We have already tried to contact you via without success. Is this still your active number? No one has answered the phone and I've tried calling a few times in the last few days.
We would like to ask you to contact us via the link >>here<< and fill in your missing details so that we can send your prize to you if you wish.
Claim your price here >>Since we were unable to reach you by phone and our deadline for sending these gifts is in 3 days, I hope you receive and respond to this email when you receive it.
The fact check
Anyone who follows the link in the email will be in for an unpleasant surprise, as it will lead to both the credit card data being fished out and a subscription trap!
The fraudsters use a well-known scam: they pretend to be ALDI and lure people with an alleged competition. If the user wants to collect their winnings, they first go to a question and answer session. We already know this survey from countless other fake competitions where the aim is to collect participants' personal data.

With an excuse that there would be shipping costs - “we are not allowed to send a prize for free - the participant then falls into a subscription trap. ( we reported on this scam) Data entry comes with a 5-day free trial with Altasspro.
Our online protection Kaspersky warns us of potential data loss. If the user is not warned, he will be taken to a data entry mask and will finally be given his credit card details.
In the last step it becomes clear that the participant has taken out a subscription to a film site. Unfortunately, it is not clear how much his supposed profit will cost him per month.
Conclusion:
ALDI is not giving away smartphones that are linked to a test subscription to a film site! It is a bait to lure users into a subscription trap.
Stay away from such supposed competitions – they can end up extremely expensive!
