Irish woman Charlotte Moultrie and her husband decided to get Alexa when their baby Emily was just five months old. At first Charlotte wasn't in favor of the introduction of the Amazon Echo Dot. But once he was there, she discovered that the support provided by voice assistance was quite practical.
“Alexa, turn off the light”
“Alexa, play the excavator song!” / … what will the weather be like?”, … – numerous applications can be found very quickly. The name of the language assistant is therefore often mentioned.
So often that baby Emily now identifies with the name, as you can see in this video:
Mama Charlotte is trying to talk to her daughter Emily here. After she says the name twice and Emily doesn't respond at all, she tries "Alexa". And lo and behold: the reaction follows in the second.
Charlotte laughs and has to admit that something went wrong here. “No, your name is Emily, NOT Alexa,” she tells her daughter, wondering, “Oh my God, what have we done?”
But reverse cases in which children have the name of a language assistant show that this can be a serious issue: A girl had the name of a language assistant and is now allowed to change her first name after a court order due to emotional distress. HERE
