An evaluation by the consumer portalvergleich.org now shows which alternatives to gas heating have seen the greatest increase in demand!

The President of the Federal Network Agency, Klaus Müller, recently announced that a tripling of gas prices by 2023 would not be unrealistic. Against this background, more and more people are looking for an alternative to gas heating.

Thevergleich.org team wanted to know: How much has the demand for gas heating alternatives increased recently? To do this, the online search queries from May 2022 were compared with the search queries from June 2022.

The result: The demand for various alternatives to gas heating has increased by over 300 percent!

In 1st place: The oil radiator!

Demand for oil radiators increased from 85,800 online searches in May 2022 to 365,960 searches in June - a huge increase of 326.53%!

The oil radiator is a solution for additional heating that works with electricity. A special thermal oil distributes the heat inside the radiator, which is then radiated into the surroundings via the rib-shaped outer shell.

Unlike a fan heater, for example, not only the air is heated, but also objects, which can increase heating comfort. One disadvantage is the high power consumption of the oil radiator. This makes it more suitable as an additional heater and less suitable for continuous heating.

In second place: the electric heater!

With an increase in demand of 125.15% (169,730 online searches in May 2022, 382,150 searches in June 2022), electric heating comes in second place in the evaluation.

Electric heaters work with electrical energy flowing through a conductor that forms a high resistance. The heat obtained in this way is then either released directly into the air by a fan or stored in a material such as ceramic or oil and gradually released.

The installation is quite simple and the models have low maintenance and a long service life. However, they have very poor efficiency and high operating costs.

In third place: the fan heater!

A fan heater first sucks in cold air and then heats it along the wires of a heating element. The devices are very easy to assemble, can be used flexibly and save space.

However, they also consume a lot of electricity, have a very low efficiency and the loud operating noise can be unpleasant.

Searches for this gas heating alternative increased from 144,710 in May 2022 to 285,720 in June 2022 - an increase of 97.44%.

In 4th place: the infrared heater!

In contrast to most other heating alternatives, infrared heaters do not heat the surrounding air, but rather solid objects. Therefore they are usually attached to a wall or ceiling.

This has the advantage that the heat can be stored for longer and there is no unpleasant air circulation. However, in order to install an infrared heater, the appropriate conditions must be present in the room, which is why it is best to seek advice from a specialist.

Demand for infrared heaters increased by 90.48% in June 2002 (666,410 online searches) compared to May (349,860 online searches).

In 5th place: The pellet stove!

As the name suggests, pellet stoves are heated with wood pellets. These fall automatically into the oven from an integrated storage compartment so that they do not have to be constantly refilled - an advantage compared to a fireplace.

To set up a pellet stove, you need a chimney, a fireproof base plate and some distance from furniture and walls.

Demand for pellet stoves increased from 376,460 online searches in May 2022 to 472,800 online searches in June 2022 - an increase of 25.59%.
