While you are led to believe that you are buying unclaimed packages, "mystery boxes", returns or remaining stock at low prices and show you pictures of high-quality goods, what you receive here are inferior and worthless junk products. Since shipping is from Asia, return shipping will also be expensive. Do not order these boxes!
On YouTube, Facebook, TikTok and Co., dubious shops are repeatedly advertised with supposed Amazon surprise boxes. What is new is that corresponding offers can also be found on the Amazon Marketplace. However, the mystery boxes advertised are not offered by Amazon itself, but come from marketplace retailers. Caution: The boxes are advertised with expensive contents, but are only filled with cheap products that are far below the order value!
Ordered on Amazon but not from Amazon?
On Amazon you will find offers that are offered and distributed by Amazon itself. There are also offers that come from third parties. These third parties are Amazon Marketplace retailers who sell their goods on Amazon. Some of them have their purchase contracts processed by Amazon. Others, however, only offer their goods on Amazon, but handle the purchase contract and shipping entirely themselves. The dubious offers for Amazon mystery boxes fall into the latter category.
A purchase via amazon.de does not automatically mean that the product is sold or shipped by Amazon!
False promises
The pictures of the mystery boxes, whose prices are usually between 30 and 50 euros, promise great things. The images show iPads, top smartphones, game consoles, smartwatches, projectors, razors and much more. However, customers only report disappointing content that not only has nothing to do with the images, but is also far below the price of the respective box. Included were, for example, adapters, card readers, USB LED lights, cheap wristwatches and similar cheap products.
Expensive return shipping to Asia
If you have ordered such a box, you have the right to cancel, as with any order. However, you should bear the return shipping costs yourself. If the item was returned within Austria or Germany, this wouldn't be a big problem. However, here you have to send the package to Asia, which incurs costs that may be higher than the original price of the mystery box. Return shipping is therefore not worth it.
Shipping back to such dubious providers in distant countries carries the risk that the purchase price will not be refunded.
Have you ordered a mystery box?
If you have ordered such a mystery box, we recommend canceling it immediately. If this is refused or you have already received the product, we advise against returning it if you would have to send the package far away abroad at high cost. Instead, turn to Amazon. Report the respective shop from the Amazon marketplace and ask about your options. If the payment was processed via Amazon, there may be an option for a chargeback.
