“Google Messages” drains users’ batteries faster than usual. As “ 9to5Google ” reports, a bug is said to cause significantly worse battery life, especially on smartphones. The problem is said to be due to the camera still being switched on in the background, which also puts a strain on the processor and can generate unnecessary heat, as the report states.

Close app after use

However, the majority of Android users do not use the app for chatting, as usage statistics show. Because many people use WhatsApp, Signal, Facebook Messenger and Co. Google Messages is often only used for text messages, which are getting out of date. In this respect, many users probably don't pay any attention to the secret battery-powered vacuum cleaner. The faulty app is also an RCS chat client and allows you to send photos.

But instead of ensuring that the camera is only activated when necessary, it should now remain switched on unnoticed all the time, which has a negative impact on the energy management of the entire device, the report confirms. After using the app, users should best close it completely to avoid further unnecessary energy consumption, it is said. The only solution is likely to be a corresponding Google update.
