Criminals who claim to be responsible for the banking Trojan Ermac have further developed it, according to the website “ The Hacker News ”. The new malware now attacks Android smartphones. As experts have noted, further developments make it possible to control third-party tablets and smartphones with the Android operating system in real time and remotely.

New Trojan: Hook – that’s how dangerous it is

“Hook,” as the new malware is called, is a banking Trojan, just like the previous version Ermac. Not only does it have all the capabilities of its predecessor, but it is also much more efficient when it comes to completely taking over smartphones.

This means that it is possible for it to carry out any action or open an app on infected Android smartphones. The malware is capable of filtering out and accessing personal information as well as carrying out monetary transactions.

The criminals are currently promoting the Trojan heavily and are offering it for 5,000 euros per month. With the ability to access over 467 banking and crypto applications, it is intended to be attractive to hackers, according to CHIP .
