An LPT animal testing laboratory in Mienenbüttel was closed, but a false report is worrying animal lovers.

Apparently 96 beagles that were rescued from the animal testing laboratory will be killed if they are not rescued within the next 14 days, other users write of 90 puppies and a deadline of the end of February. At least this is what is claimed in text and image form on Facebook:

"Hello folks!
As some may already know, the animal testing laboratory here in Hamburg has been closed.
The problem now is that 90 Beagle puppies need a new home! If they do not find a new home by the end of February, they will be euthanized.
The animals are currently still in the laboratory and in the animal shelter on Süderstrasse.

Please share this information so that the animals have a chance at a beautiful new life!”

Contradictions

  • One time there are 90 puppies and the other time there are 96 puppies
  • In one case the puppies should be killed after 14 days, in another case not until the end of February
  • The closed animal testing laboratory is located in the district of Hamburg in Mienenbüttel , part of the unified municipality of Neu Wulmstorf (Lower Saxony), not in the city of Hamburg

The local confusion probably comes from the fact that Hamburg also has a district called Harburg and the Hamburg animal protection association took care of the animals .

The puppies are not killed!

In October 2019, we also reported on the real footage from the animal testing laboratory in Mienenbüttel, in which the beagles in question can be seen.

Several sites are now contradicting the rumors that the puppies will be killed, especially the local animal protection organization “ Lobby pro Tier – Mienenbüttel “:

FALSE REPORTS AROUND

Reports are currently being spread online, via WhatsApp and Facebook, that the 96 beagles waiting to be picked up at the LPT Mienenbüttel will be killed at the end of February if they do not find a buyer.

THIS IS WRONG!

Firstly, there are now sufficient offers from clubs. So it's just a matter of deciding which clubs will get the Beagles.

Secondly, even if it weren't so, not a single dog would be killed. “The district would then have to take care of the remaining dogs in two weeks and take care of the placement.”

SOKO Tierschutz uncovered the conditions in the animal testing laboratory in October 2019 also contradicts the claims:

https://www.facebook.com/sokotierschutz.ev/posts/1538604499597179?hc_location=ufi

“It’s nice to see how big the commitment is. However: According to our information, all dogs are already taken care of and laboratory dogs have probably never been as “popular” in adoption as they are now. The information that the dogs will be euthanized if they are not rehomed quickly enough is false information. The dogs will not be killed!”

Conclusion

The animal testing laboratory in Mienenbüttel was closed and all remaining laboratory dogs are currently being placed with clubs. The claim that the animals will soon be killed if they are not rehomed is therefore false !
