Since 2011, the false information that “Swiffers wet wipes” are dangerous for dogs and cats has persisted.
This message has been around for countless years. Swiffer itself has already commented on this false report and has already made a statement on its website that this is not the case.

DANGER! TOXIC URGENT READ AND SHARE!!! by Michelle Vanessa Muuh, Monday, September 12, 2011 at 7:49 p.m. As we found out on the bulletin board during a visit to the vet's office almost a week ago, a 5-year-old German Shepherd had to be put down because of a painful liver disease. The owner has one An autopsy was ordered because she had no explanation for this suffering. The previous history is that the dog always lived in the house, was only taken outside under supervision and was always under supervision there too. The autopsy showed that the liver in one was in a terrible condition, which could only be attributed to regular ingestion of poison. All household products were then checked for toxic components. Upon closer inspection of the “SWIFFERS – wet wipes” packaging, one came across the small print indicating that the product is toxic to children and animals. Contacting the manufacturer of the product resulted in this big surprise that one of the components is de-icer, or very close to the molecule de-icer. The German Shepherd's owner's floor was cleaned regularly with the above-mentioned cloths. The dog always licked its footpads and that led to poisoning. Not long after the dog's death, 2 cats with the same symptoms also had to be euthanized. In this case too, the “SWIFFER – moist wipes” were used there for a long time. Pet owners are expressly warned against using these wipes, which are toxic to animals. Please pass this on to all friends, acquaintances, etc. with children and pets.
Swiffer himself has commented on this and writes:
Swiffer wet wipes (Swiffer Wet) are safe for people and animals.
We repeatedly receive reports that the use of Swiffer wipes leads to harm to pets. We would like to point out that this is just a rumor that is being spread over the internet.
The safety of Swiffer wipes for use in households with pets has been extensively studied and scientifically and veterinarily confirmed by independent experts.
Swiffer wipes are safe to use in households with pets. It does not contain any ingredients that are harmful to humans or pets. The main ingredient in Swiffer wet wipes is water. The cleaning substances contained are used in conventional cleaning products worldwide and are present in a concentration that is safe and harmless for humans and pets. However, as with all cleaning products, Swiffer wipes are recommended to be stored out of the reach of children and pets. However, if the product is used in an inadvisable manner (e.g. licking the floor treated with Swiffer cloths), there is no risk of harm to health. Only the bitter taste can temporarily cause nausea. This can be counteracted by drinking water afterwards.

Re: Wet Swiffer wipes: Dangerous for dogs and cats!!!
Recently, one of my neighbors had to put down her 5 year old German Shepherd due to a painful liver condition. The dog was in perfect health until a few weeks ago. For this reason, the owner requested an autopsy. The liver was in a terrible condition due to ingestion of poison. We immediately followed this trail - because the dog always lived in the house and was only accompanied outside. Finally the owner went to search the apartment and checked all household products for toxic content. When he “inspected” the packaging of the “Swiffer wet wipes” more closely, he came across the small print: A warning: That this product can be toxic to children and animals. Contact was made with the manufacturer to find out to what extent this cleaning product is dangerous for children and animals. Big surprise when they replied that one of the ingredients is de-icer (in reality very close to the molecule de-icer) Result, the bottom of the The apartment was regularly cleaned with these cloths, the dog licked his footpads and ate from the pot that was on the cleaned floor and that made him sick. Not long after the dog's death, the homeowner's tenant had to euthanize her two cats because of the same thing. The landlord and tenant both used the “Swiffer” wet wipes. The tenant chose not to have an autopsy performed and cannot claim any compensation. She asks us to spread this information to warn other pet owners.
