In the summer there was a rumor in a WhatsApp chain letter that pop star Michael Wendler had died. But what was it?
Additional links in the chain letter are apparently intended to lead to news articles about it.

The message is:
„Pop singer Michael Wendler was found dead in his villa in the United States today at 1:08 p.m. The cause of death is unknown. „
Now, purely visually, at first glance this message looks as if the link would lead to a message on the “Focus” website. In fact, you can see two links here! Some users may now be worried about tapping the links, as they often lead to harmful pages.

We'll make this clear here
The first link simply leads to the main page of “Focus” and is used to ensure that the magazine’s logo appears in the WhatsApp message to give the chain letter seriousness.
The second link does not lead to a news report, but to a GIF , i.e. a moving image, which is on “Tumblr”.

“Tumblr” is a blogging platform on which mostly images are posted, including this GIF.
By the way, we won't show the GIF at this point, but as a description it should suffice that it's a wagging idiot . So more of a Michael Wedler instead of Michael Wendler.
Conclusion
The chain letter is a hoax . When you tap on the supposed message, you only see a moving image.
