US company blocks access to near field communication for competing apps!
The electronics giant is denying iPhone competitors access to its mobile payment technology to promote its own cyberwallet, Apple Pay. According to a report from Quartz, other companies cannot use the company's NFC technology, which is used for contactless payments, among other things.
“They don’t want rivals to be able to launch a cyberwallet. If they opened up to other companies, it could worsen their market position,” quotes “Quartz” Tim Derdenger, associate professor of marketing and strategy at Carnegie Mellon University http://cmu.edu . Larger competitors in particular, such as Amazon, are said to be unable to keep up with Apple Pay on iPhones.
NFC only for Apple
Around ten percent of all smartphones worldwide come from Apple. The company has complete control over the near field communication of the iPhones. This is a method of exchanging data contactlessly using electromagnetic technology. Other companies cannot program applications with this technology on iPhones and therefore cannot create their own cyberwallets.

Google also has NFC technology, which is used in Android smartphones. Unlike Apple, however, this application is freely available to other companies. However, the company restricts access to its NFC for security reasons. Customer data is very sensitive, especially when it comes to mobile payments.
Apple Pay is pushing forward
Payment service providers that want to build a cyberwallet on iPhones have to bypass NFC and instead rely on payments via QR codes. But even with such services, the company leaves the competition little room for maneuver. Swiss payment service Twint http://twint.ch , which uses QR codes, had to file a complaint with regulators about Apple. Apple Pay repeatedly pushed itself in front of the Twint app on iPhones near payment terminals. The Californians gave in and allowed Twint to bypass Apple Pay.
