As our cooperation partner from Watchlist-Internet reports, fraudsters are sending fake Apple emails!
Criminals send a fake Apple email. In it they ask recipients to provide their access and credit card details on a manipulated website. Users who comply with the request become victims of data theft. It enables criminals to commit crimes under other people's names and steal money from consumers.
Criminals send a fake Apple message. In it they claim that there were suspicious purchases made using customers' Apple ID. For this reason, they should verify your Apple ID. To do this, consumers must access a third-party website and provide personal data:

What's next?
Consumers who access the “Verify Your Apple ID” link reach the third-party website appleid.apple.recovery. Fremdewebsite.com – this is what the browser shows in its address line with letters highlighted in black. On the unknown website, visitors should provide their Apple ID and password. In the next step, criminals request personal information from their victims, such as their address or credit card number. Customers who provide the desired information become victims of data theft. It allows fraudsters to access deceived customers' Apple accounts, use their personal information to commit crimes, and steal their money.
How do you recognize the fake Apple email?
You can recognize the fake Apple message by looking at the following points, among others:
- Apple does not send messages to customers asking them to provide personal information on a website. Letters with this content are a clear indication that criminals are attempting to steal data.
- There are no suspicious purchases you have made. You can check this in your App Store or iTunes Store account.
- The email is sent to German-speaking customers and is in English. This is not Apple's approach. It writes to its German-speaking customers in German.
- The salutation reflects the email address of the recipient. Apple calls its customers directly by name.
- If you hover your computer mouse over the Verify Your Apple ID , a window will show you that you are using it to go to the appleid.apple.recovery website. Fremdewebsite.com . It doesn't belong to Apple.
Have you fallen for the phishing email?
In this case, change your Apple ID password immediately. Contact your credit card company and explain to them that you have provided your payment information to criminals. Discuss how to proceed to prevent damage. Contact Apple Support to find out what additional precautionary measures you should take to ensure that no (further) damage occurs. File a criminal complaint with the police.
Data misuse possible
Data thieves who have their personal information can commit crimes under their names. You can find out about this by receiving calls, messages, debt collection or reminder letters from fraud victims. We therefore recommend that you issue a fraud alert to the credit reporting agencies. This means that lenders cannot easily grant loans to criminals who use your information. Check regularly whether there are any entries about you on the Internet. If necessary, write to the website operator and request that they be deleted. Experience has shown that this is possible without any problems.
