Are you being teased, are you annoyed on WhatsApp? Are there pictures of you appearing on Instagram or Facebook that don't make you look good?

“Ask skooly” – the first aid app for cyberbullying

“skooly” is a tool from the Burgenland education network that inspires children from the first grade . In a safe space, students get to know an age-appropriate learning platform for the first time and are thus prepared for their future school careers. Regardless of whether it is for alternative forms of learning, differentiation and individualization, gifted education, skills learning, freely available exercise units, ... - “skooly” can be integrated into elementary school lessons according to the needs of the school.

The simple operation, freely available learning content and the visually appealing tool make work much easier.

Create a fill-in-the-blank text, a reading exercise, learning games and Mimi texts with just 3 clicks... teachers can now produce their learning materials so quickly. But free learning content is also available at “skooly”! The parents are always “up to date” online and receive feedback on which exercises have been done, what homework is and what the child should bring with them.

Now the learning companion skooly.at has developed its own app against bullying on the Internet with the cooperation of the educator and chief programmer, Georg Ratz, and the educator, the IT supervisor in Burgenland, Oliver Mittl, MAS and the educational server Burgenland. The team has taken on a hot topic.

Due to the high frequency of use of social networks and messenger services, cyberbullying is more relevant than ever. Insults, embarrassment and the spreading of untrue rumors are often the result.

Parents sometimes find it difficult to understand where their own children leave their mark on the Internet. The newly developed app “Frag skooly” now provides a solution. “Ask skooly” was developed specifically for younger smartphone users and impresses with its intuitive navigation. The main functions of the app are:

  • Explanation of the social media services “WhatsApp”, “Facebook”, “Instagram”, “Snapchat” and digital chain letters as well as instructions on how to block another person from the services.
  • Tips on how to respond to cyberbullying by others.
  • Explanation of how to take and save screenshots on your smartphone.

With “Ask Skooly” the problem of bullying on the Internet is specifically addressed and possible approaches and solutions are offered in an uncomplicated manner and directly via the app. This is now available for download iPhone and Android
