A bleak picture, an injured politician and many unanswered questions. The dark side of politics was recently shown in Augsburg when AfD local politician and state parliament candidate Andreas Jurca was said to have been attacked after a nightly barbecue for election workers. Some users couldn't believe this and sent us countless inquiries about this topic. But what is really behind the incident?
The incident in detail
In the middle of Augsburg, near Schönbachstrasse, Jurca was caught and attacked by two unknown people. At the time he was accompanied by a 32-year-old friend. Jurca reported that one of the perpetrators hit him in the face without warning. Despite visible injuries, Jurca denied the need for medical attention.
Context: Political tensions and violence
The attack on Jurca is not an isolated incident. There have been similar attacks on AfD members in recent months. Violence against politicians, regardless of party, has increased in Germany. And not just against the AfD, but also by its members. An area of tension that is worth examining in more detail.
The reactions: “permanent agitation against the AfD”
After the incident, there were waves on social networks. A video of Jurca describing his experiences went viral. In it he reports about cracks in the film and the feeling of seeing everything blurry without glasses. He interprets the attack as a direct result of the “permanent agitation against the AfD” and complains about the alleged media neglect of his case. His party colleague Gabrielle Mailbeck is also concerned about the safety of AfD members.
The debate: what's behind it?
Regardless of where you stand politically, such attacks are disturbing. They undermine trust in a peaceful and democratic society. A complex and delicate situation.
What do the police say?
The police confirm investigations into suspicion of grievous bodily harm. The reason, sequence and possible background to the incident are currently the subject of investigations. Witnesses who can provide further information are urged to come forward.

He was suddenly hit in the face by one of the two unknown people. The 35-year-old was injured as a result, although he denied the need for medical care. The unknown people left in an unknown direction.
As is usual in comparable cases, the reason, the course of events and the possible background to the matter reported by the 35-year-old are currently the subject of investigations. The criminal police are now investigating suspicions of grievous bodily harm. Witnesses are asked to call 0821/323-3810.
Conclusion
The news of the attack on Andreas Jurca in Augsburg is disturbing and once again shows the increasing political tensions in Germany. It is important that investigations are conducted thoroughly and transparently. Regardless of political beliefs, violence cannot and must not be a solution. It is time for everyone involved to pause and look for ways to conduct the discourse in a more constructive and peaceful manner.
