Malicious SMS messages are currently being sent, which, among other things, inform about supposedly outstanding DHL parcel deliveries or voicemails. This is intended to trick you into installing a malicious app (malicious software) on your smartphone or tablet. The focus is on devices with the Android operating system.

Example of such an SMS with a package announcement and a malicious link

If you access the Sparkasse app on an infected device, the malware ensures that instead of the app, a series of dialogs are displayed in which you are asked one after the other to enter the name, bank code or BIC of your Sparkasse, your online Banking access data (login name/LegID and PIN) as well as your date of birth and number of your Sparkasse card (“EC card”) will be requested.

CAUTION: Please do not enter any information in these displays. Otherwise, your data could be misused by fraudsters to carry out fraudulent transactions.

The Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe's computer emergency team therefore urgently warns against this malware and the fraudulent advertisements. If you have observed the behavior described or have already entered data, please contact your savings bank immediately about blocking your online banking access. Also, have your Android device checked and cleaned by a professional. To avoid such attacks, apps should only be installed via the pre-installed app store.
