We know them, these little number puzzle pictures in which a bunch of identical numbers appear in a graphic. Like a “hidden object picture”, the task is to find numbers underneath that are different. Recently, such puzzles have been combined with competitions. – Most of all for fake competitions, such as recently in the name of Deichmann .

Now there is such a competition from SPAR Austria. At least that's how it seems. But a look at SPAR's Facebook page shows that this is also a fake.

"Danger! There is a fake competition going on😠! SPAR Austria distances itself from this!!” – according to the information from the food market.

What is behind the competition?

Not the supermarket chain SPAR, that much is clear. If you carelessly take part in the competition, you will first reach a website that appears as “spar Austria”. Here we find out that a “sponsorship team” has a few questions for us, we then need our data such as email address and telephone number to register, and then we receive a code with which the winnings of 250 euros can be paid out shall be.

What happens after clicking on this link?

At this point you should be suspicious, because we are redirected to a page that no longer has much to do with the actual topic:

Suddenly it's about a €250 voucher from Lidl. It is also stated here in the footer area of the page that the competition is run by “ Myemail Ltd. “, a UK shell company managed from Cambodia .

During the “registration” you also have to answer a few questions, which usually have two answer options. But sometimes just one, like here:

At the end we can choose other subscriptions or offers, free or at reduced prices.

None of this has anything to do with SPAR Austria for a long time.

So is there nothing to gain?

Unfortunately no. It is a fake competition that runs on behalf of a well-known company.

At the end you don’t get any prizes or vouchers. On the contrary: you pay with your own data and your nerves if you are then bombarded with spam calls and an avalanche of emails.

Also interesting: Telephone fraud: recorded voice lures you into the trap!
