An unknown person is sending suggestive WhatsApp messages to young people in the Euskirchen district.

As the Euskirchen police warn, a young person from the Euskirchen district was contacted via “WhatsApp” by an adult man he did not know. In the messages, the adult male asked the teen about intimate things. He also told him a lewd joke via voicemail.

Since the messages made the boy uncomfortable, he showed them to his father, who instructed his son to block contact. A report was filed. He is currently being investigated for sexual abuse.

Homeschooling, home office and many other things are currently normal in households across the district. Above all, children and young people have few opportunities to share their problems and feelings with their friends and classmates.

This now mainly happens via social media forums (WhatsApp, Snapchat, TikTok, Instagram, ...) or in the chat histories of online games. The Euskirchen police warn and point out:

Be sure to pay attention to who your child has contact with and what is written in the chat forums. Many children are currently exposed to insults, sexual innuendos or sexual requests.
