Of course, there was huge excitement in the comments on the video, which shows the newborn baby behind a plastic film. It is claimed that the baby is just a doll, that you have to report it to the police, that it is vaccination propaganda, etc. etc.
But apparently there are no mothers in the comments who have ever had a cesarean section...
Here is one of the posts sharing the video:

The comments are abuzz with excitement:

But is the excitement even justified? Spoiler alert: No, because these transparent plastic films for cesarean births have been around since 2015 !
The origin of the video
The widespread video only shows a small excerpt, here is the complete video from the mother, who published it herself on TikTok and in which you can also see the image from the screenshot above:
The mother posted another video showing her baby behind a plastic sheet. This video is also being spread and people are outraged about it:
You can already see from the hashtags that Melina Tesi, the mother's name, had a C-section, in German: a caesarean section.
The transparent plastic film for cesarean births
As we said above: This is absolutely not a new method that is being used due to the Corona pandemic, but has been around since 2015.
The background:
Many mothers have psychological problems after a cesarean section because there is usually an opaque green or blue cloth between the expectant mother's head and stomach. She does not directly see her baby being born and therefore does not feel truly connected to the newborn.
For example, Valerie Echo Duckett, a 35-year-old woman from Ohio, tells npr ( see HERE ) about her cesarean section, which had to be performed very unexpectedly. She only has vague memories of the birth:
“They covered me with warm blankets.
I kind of fell asleep in and out of sleep. It took me a long time to even say that I gave birth to Avery. I felt like I didn't deserve the right to say I gave birth to him, like it had somehow been taken away from me, like I hadn't done what I should have done."
Such psychological problems after a cesarean section are all too common because as a mother you don't experience the birth directly: all you notice is that the doctors are doing something to the (locally anesthetized) stomach and then the baby is presented. In the best cases, the medical towels have a small peephole between the head and stomach so that the baby can be seen.
That's why the company Ecolab ( see HERE ) medical, transparent plastic films for cesarean section births since 2015
The mother herself also talks about the birth on Instagram and finds it appalling how her video is being misused “for her sick agendas”:
“People are using my video to further their sick agendas and that is NOT OK! I gave birth to my son through a cesarean section, not by choice, I wish I could have had a natural birth but I didn't have that option. For all those upset about the plastic wrap, it's a transparent wrap so the mother can watch the baby being born and after they wipe off the blood and cut the umbilical cord, they wrap it up and bring it to me. The cloth is there for sterile reasons, it's an operation. I delivered my first son via emergency c-section 5 years ago and it was the same protocol. This has nothing to do with Covid or any other twisted ideas.”

Conclusion
This plastic film has absolutely nothing to do with the corona pandemic, but has been a method that has been used for caesarean section births since 2015 so that mothers can see the birth and therefore experience it more intensively.
We wish Melina and her family all the best!
