What happens when I click on the link?

You end up on a fake A1 login page. This website looks exactly like the real one. But it was programmed so that criminals can see what you type. So criminals steal your access data. Credit card or bank details are also requested.

You can tell that you are not on the real A1 login page by looking at the internet address. It is a completely different address that has nothing to do with A1's official internet address.

How to recognize fake emails

  • Link: A link in an email is always suspicious! Never click on the link hastily. Better yet, log into your account as always. This way you can check straight away whether the claim in the email is really true. If it were real, you would also be notified in your account.
  • Impersonal salutation: Phishing emails are sent in large numbers, so you will only be addressed as “Dear Customer”.
  • Spelling and grammatical errors: The emails are usually worded strangely and full of errors.
  • Unusual sender email address: The sender's name can be freely chosen, so it is important to take a close look at the email address. This is completely implausible in the case of a fraudulent email. Attention: Sometimes the company name appears in the email address. Compare the email address with the company's official address.
  • Urgent request to do something: e.g. E.g. complete data, download app or update account information.
  • Threat of consequences if action is not taken: You will be asked to click on the link immediately or within a short period of time. Criminals use this to create stress in order to get you to act rashly.

If you are unsure about a message, check with the company to be sure. Don't get the contact details from the fake A1 email, but from the official website! You can also contact Watchlist Internet .

Have you logged in to the fake A1 site?

  • Change your password immediately.
  • Entered credit card or bank details? Contact your bank or credit card company and discuss how to proceed.
  • Forward the email to A1 ( abuse@a1.at ).
  • Move the fake A1 email to your spam folder.
