On January 27th and 28th, 2020 there was a very widespread wave of spam that irritated many people!
The most important thing about mega spam in brief:
- Email has the subject “Your payment has been successfully completed!” or something similar
- Visually it appears in the form of an invoice; some email programs only display cryptic characters
- However, the link leads to a fake PayPal page that is looking for users' login details
What we know about it: This email was sent in a big wave. The recipients are deceived by a false appearance and a false sender.
The sender used is Fotograf.de, but the operator of this website has nothing to do with this spam. The same applies to the mention and use of the PayPal logo, as this email does not come from the service.

The email is shocking because it confirms an alleged invoice that has supposedly already been paid. Therefore, people tend to ignore the link behind “Would you like to change or cancel your payment?” then click here.”, but there is a trap behind it. This is what the email looks like:

The real page “fotograf.de” has nothing to do with the email!
The site “fotograf.de” mentioned in the email denies having anything to do with the email, but points out that it is a fraudulent email in their name, and they also mention a nice detail about why you can recognize the fake email:
The text line “Would you like to change or cancel your payment?” then click here.” cannot be found in any real email from PayPal!
There is also a good reason why this line can only be found in the fake email, because exactly behind the link is a fake PayPal page where you not only have to enter your login details, but also your credit card details... which then can be used by fraudsters to actually withdraw money using the credit card!

Mega spam is phishing!
Be careful of this email because it is a phishing scam. Anyone who leaves truthful information here is putting this data directly into the hands of fraudsters.
During a closer analysis of the website, our protection software reported directly and pointed out a phishing scam. We therefore advise you to delete this email unnoticed, as there was neither the purchase described nor the payment for it.

Did you also receive this email? Send the email to spam@zddk.eu , and at the same time you should forward it to spoof@paypal.com and spoof@fotograf.de ! PayPal itself also provides tips on how to recognize fraudulent emails and how to proceed.
