The claim

St. Martin's parade, Christmas market, Advent lighting and Christmas are supposedly to be abolished in the name of tolerance and consideration.

Our conclusion

Nobody is seriously calling for the abolition of these traditional festivals and names.

Beginning of autumn, it's that time again!

Every year at the beautiful autumn time the fake news gets ready again? And people complain that Christmas products are supposedly available in stores earlier and earlier. The hoaxes come even sooner...

On September 21st It's the beginning of autumn and this bullshit meme appears again, shortly after the first Christmas cookies in the supermarket! It heralds the series of St. Martin's, St. Nicholas and Christmas fakes that will surely follow and fuels various phantom discussions.

clarification

St. Martin's parade with my children (not the “Sun Moon and Stars Festival”). In December we look forward to the Christmas market (not the “winter market”) and the Advent lighting (not the “winter lighting”) and then celebrate Christmas (and not an “end of year celebration”).
I believe in tolerance and consideration .
However, I don't think much of the complete idiots who think that we should give up our own traditions and our own cultural identity in our own country. Not with me!

Like and share if you feel the same way!

Clarification? Sure, of course!

St. Martin's parade with my children (not the “Sun Moon and Stars Festival”).

Ok, then you probably come from a very Catholic area of Germany. In predominantly Protestant areas, a lantern festival with a lantern parade is traditionally celebrated in honor of Martin Luther. And in many communities these days, ecumenical St. Martin's Day celebrations are celebrated, in which Catholic and Protestant customs mix. more information about the Lantern Festival and its origins here

The Sun, Moon and Stars Festival

This sun-moon-and-stars festival, which in truth hardly anyone knows, has been swirling around Facebook for years. Or do you know this festival? And where does the name come from? Leimenkaut daycare center in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe are to blame for the name (if you can call it guilt) . The story of the naming of this festival has been brought up again and again
since 2013

Christmas market or winter market?

“In December we look forward to the Christmas market (not the “winter market”)…”.

Well, then you don't live in southern Germany, where there are traditionally a lot of Christmas markets, and also not in Dresden, where the traditional market before Christmas is called the Striezelmarkt. a winter market is a market that takes place beyond Advent and Christmas until well into January or begins before Eternal Sunday.

Advent lighting, Christmas lighting or winter lighting?

and the Advent lighting (not the “winter lighting”)…

Well, that probably means you live in a place that takes down the festive lights right after Christmas to save money, instead of lighting up the dark season with winter lights like other cities do.

Are we celebrating Christmas or an end-of-year celebration?

… and then celebrate Christmas (and not a “year-end party”)…

There used to be a year-end celebration in the GDR. That's a long story. Today anyone can celebrate Christmas if they want. Many companies also have end-of-year celebrations to mark the end of the year. That's up to each individual, so no one wants to abolish this tradition. On the contrary: many Muslims, atheists and Hindus celebrate Christmas with their families, friends and colleagues.

Our conclusion at the beginning of autumn

Germany consists of many regions that have different cultural influences: Protestant, Catholic, secular. From north to south, from east to west, there are diverse traditions surrounding autumn and winter. Many regional customs that are named differently. There is not THE St. Martin's parade, not THE lantern festival, not THE Christmas market, not THE Advent lighting, but rather centuries-old, sometimes quite new customs that brighten up the dark season. We should enjoy the regional diversity that is at home in the different federal states and look beyond our local horizons. And Christmas won't be abolished just because some people call their year-end celebration an end-of-year party and not a Christmas party.

Don't let yourself be incited! Nobody is seriously calling for the abolition of our traditions. And no, you are not a Nazi if you work to preserve traditions. But it's easy to make a fool of yourself when you use bullshit memes to defend something that isn't actually in danger.

I would like to thank the colleagues before me who have already taken on the topic many times and remember the colleagues after me who will have to continue to deal with it for years to come.
