A fraud was reported to the criminal police today that occurred in the past few months in Bad Sooden-Allendorf in the Oberrieden district.

An alleged VORWERK employee repeatedly appeared at the home of an 83-year-old and claimed that he had to replace seemingly defective parts of the vacuum cleaner. However, he actually installed used spare parts. He collected a total of EUR 500 for these supposedly new spare parts.

These amounts were paid in cash without receiving an invoice (receipt). The suspect - of whom there is currently no description - is said to have been driving a dark car.

The police are therefore asking for information about the vehicle and the person by calling 05651/9250; What is particularly important is whether further such incidents have occurred in other households.

Police tips

  • Do not allow “representatives” or “salespeople” to come into your apartment without being asked
  • Ask neighbors or acquaintances to be witnesses
  • Only allow tradesmen (representatives) into your apartment that you have appointed yourself
  • Never pay in cash. Request an invoice that clearly shows the name and address of the contractual partner (representative).
