At the moment, users are receiving an offer of a Billa voucher worth 250 euros via messenger services. Be careful – these are data collectors.
Fake competition in the name of Billa: The so-called lead generation is about winning interested parties. To make the lead attractive, the creators use well-known brands and companies.
But the competition only serves as bait, because the supposed raffle date is often far in the future and the participant is supposed to make their data available to a list of sponsors. Such competitions have been available on Facebook for years.
The method has 3 steps: the bait, the bridge (a survey), the conclusion.
Again: Billa has nothing to do with this competition. The company's well-known name was simply used as bait.
Detailed analysis
The bait: In this case, the lead lures you with a status post on Facebook and pretends that Billa is giving away a voucher. It appears that the competition is organized by Billa herself.
The Bridge: If we follow the link provided, we will reach an obligatory question and answer session. In this survey, it doesn't matter which answers you choose: you always win - no matter what!
Why? Because the organizer wants your data. Comments shown are mostly generated and do not reflect the opinions of existing Facebook users.
The exit: So we end up with an input mask.
true purpose of the competition is revealed . We only get one CHANCE to win. If you want to have the chance to win the voucher, you should not only make your data available to the competition organizer, but also to a number of different sponsors.
They can now inform the participant about offers from their respective business area. And by informing we mean a deluge of advertising via email, telephone, push messages and/or post…
We have seen this exact method several times before. Also with other vouchers as a lure. The following companies, among others, kept coming to our attention: Naturvel PTE. LTO, adpublisher, red lemon media GmbH, Lead Spot Media, Proleagion, Spar Advisor Ltd., Planet49, Green Flamingo, 7sections, CEOO, … .
