E-mails from supposed police authorities continue to circulate in which unsuspecting citizens are accused of crimes they have allegedly committed. In return for paying a sum of money, the addressee could, for example, avoid further criminal prosecution or send his or her statement on the accusation to a specified email address. It is not uncommon for alleged evidence to be attached to the email as a file.
As early as December 2021, we HERE , emails from unknown authors posing as BKA President Holger Münch were in circulation. There are currently emails circulating with the fake sender “ Secretary General of the Federal Criminal Police Office ”. Attached to the emails is a document that contains an alleged summons, along with a request to contact the BKA “as quickly as possible.”

We make it clear: These emails are fake emails that do not come from the Federal Criminal Police Office.
Under no circumstances would we contact citizens in this way. We therefore appeal: Do not comply with this request. This is probably an attempt to spy on your data in order to commit further crimes. Under no circumstances should you open the PDF document attached to the email. This could contain malware and infect your device in order to then commit further crimes.
Protect yourself by checking the email address to see if the sender is credible.
The BKA never sends emails from accounts of private email providers. Additionally, you should never respond to emails from unknown senders. Do not open files of unknown origin or links in emails from senders you do not know. And generally be vigilant when handling personal data. If you become a victim of a crime, report it to the relevant police.
