Many Internet users still receive extortionate emails claiming that users have been secretly filmed using a webcam while consuming porn.

Here we have another variant in which, in contrast to the many other emails of this type , an apology is even made for the bad German. Kind!

“Hello,
my illiteracy doesn’t bother me, I’m from China.
This is my final warning.

I have uploaded the malicious program to your system.
Since that moment I have stolen all secret background from your system. Additionally, I have some compromising evidence. The most interesting thing I stole with your masturbation. I adapted virus on a porn website and after it loaded. When you settled with the video and tapped a play button, my deleterious soft set up on your system at once. After adjusting, your camera will shoot the videotape of you abusing yourself, plus it will save exactly the porn video you masturbating to. Over the next few days, my malware collected all of your social and work contacts.

If you want to delete the records – pay me 300 euros in BTC (cryptocurrency).
I offer you my Btc number- 1Myb3pSbFpHvtDciKbvVuFPgGkZHfgmzmR
You have 24 hours after reading.
If I get transfer, I will destroy the video tape more and more. In another way, I will send the tape to all your colleagues and friends.”

This is not the first time that unknown cyber criminals have tried to use this scam to get money from Internet users. It is repeatedly claimed that a Trojan or spy software was installed on the victim's computer and that recordings of the victim masturbating were taken. You should pay a certain amount so that the attacker deletes the video - whether he will actually do this or continue to blackmail the victim can never be said with certainty in such attacks.

Do these scammers really have video footage of me?

In the case of current blackmail attempts via email, unfortunately it cannot be clearly proven whether the blackmailers actually have video material of the victims or not. We assume that the cybercriminals do not have any video material. To date there has only been one similar case where a user was actually blackmailed. We reported about it here.

Infection with malware cannot be ruled out either. When you visit dubious websites, it can happen again and again that you get malware. Good virus protection protects users from this potential danger.

Still not paying?

We advise against paying the requested amount for such scams!

In addition to not relying on a criminal's word, any user who gives in to such a demand qualifies as a potential "permanent victim." It makes more sense to report such emails and other blackmail attempts immediately to the nearest police station or online.

The police also warn against “sextortion”

In some cases, video recordings of users actually exist. However, these did not arise “secretly”, but rather users consciously engage in video chats with women or men. The video chats in which the user is asked to take off their clothes are then recorded and the users are blackmailed with the recordings.

The phenomenon of “sextortion” affects men and women, with most victims being male. According to what we know so far, the perpetrators are organized as gangs and operate from abroad, particularly from Eastern Europe.

In order to better protect themselves, the police advise all recipients of these or similar blackmail emails:

  • Do not respond to such emails.
  • Do not transfer money to the senders.
  • Report it to the police.
  • Virus protection systems on smartphones, laptops, tablets or computers should always be up to date.

Reports are accepted at any local police station.
