This does not mean that you can “block” individual chats. What we mean by lock here is that an additional protective function can be set up. So if you want to be on the safe side and protect particularly confidential conversations, for example, you can set up a lock for this.
In the latest WhatsApp beta version for Android 2.23.8.2, WABetaInfo discovered that WhatsApp is working on this feature. This should allow users to lock selected chats with their fingerprint or a password.
Block individual chats and group chats
This security can be set in the corresponding contact or group info. If a chat is locked in this way, you can see it in its own list (here in the screenshot “Locked chats”). From now on he can only be seen there.

This gives the messenger service another layer of security to protect sensitive conversations.
Media contained in the selected chats will also no longer be downloaded to the smartphone, which in and of itself is a standard setting. This now receives an exception due to “Locked chats”.
