The claim
A video on Facebook that appears to be a fact check is intended to prove that a body was moved from the sidewalk to the street in Ukraine especially for the media.
Our conclusion
The recording is neither accidental nor secret, but official, and for one reason: booby traps were suspected among the corpses.
A video on Facebook that appears to be a fact check is intended to prove that a body was moved from the sidewalk to the street in Ukraine especially for the media.
And in fact, not only are there shots of the body in various positions, there is even a (according to the video) “random” shot of the body being moved onto the street. But this recording is neither accidental nor secret, but official, and for one reason: booby traps were suspected among the corpses.
The claim
The video on Facebook shows a body first on a sidewalk, then a little later on the street. “Accidental” footage is then shown of soldiers actually pulling the body onto the street with a rope. The creator of the post:
“By chance, there is a video in which Ukrainian soldiers move these corpses so that they end up lying like we saw in the media reports. I don't want to claim that these people there are really dead and not actors. But the question arises, why are these people being surrounded? Is there anything in the allegations of the staging? Isn’t the Ukrainian side as innocent as they say?!”

What’s behind the “accidental” recording
The footage of a soldier dragging the body onto the street with a rope is far from accidental, but was officially published by the Associated Press (AP) . This recording can be seen, for example, on YouTube (see HERE ), and the recording can also be found in the archive of the AP news agency (see HERE ).
The AP archive also describes what can be seen in the recording. Under points 9 and 11 it says:
- " Soldiers pulling body with cable, wary of the body being booby-trapped "
- " Various of soldiers pulling body with cable, wary of the body being booby-trapped "
So this is not a deliberate repositioning of the body for the media, but rather the general procedure in war zones when bodies are suspected of being booby-trapped.
Conclusion
There is no logic behind why corpses should be placed in one place beforehand, but then later painstakingly attached to cables in order to move them to a different position for media attention and even allow a news agency to film them. It would be easier and quicker to do this by hand.
Therefore, the claim that the body was deliberately positioned on the street for the media and the action was filmed “accidentally” is false.
