The Thuringian bratwurst is known nationwide, and in one Thuringian town you can even get it for free - together with a corona vaccination!
How could Germans be persuaded to get vaccinated against COVID-19? Money? Boring. A voucher? You can get it everywhere. A bratwurst? Give me the vaccination!!!
What sounds like a cliché about Germans is actually true - at least almost!
The first vaccination campaign of this kind took place in Sonneberg/Thuringia on July 30th: anyone who was vaccinated against the coronavirus there received a free bratwurst . And the campaign was successful because the first bratwurst was served at 6 a.m.
While previously only an average of 140 people were vaccinated there per day, by midday on Friday there were already around 200 hungry citizens from all over Thuringia, and in the evening 400 full and vaccinated Thuringians were counted. The campaign will now run every Friday in Sonneberg.
However, it is not the case that the Thuringians only came for the bratwurst. As a spokeswoman for the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KV) told “Stern ” , unlike before , citizens did not have to register for the vaccination, which also caused a rush.
And the sausage beckons forever
What works in Thuringia could also work throughout Germany, suspects Vice Chancellor Olaf Scholz:
And Bill Gates also (perhaps) praises this campaign!

Let's not kid ourselves: the cliché is true, as the vaccination rate in Sonneberg shows, with bratwursts you can lure every German who is tired of vaccinations.
And if you think your neighbor is barbecuing, think twice: Maybe a new vaccination center has opened there.
But if you prefer to play, you can also go to an IKEA in Austria:
Either way: the upward curve must be kept flat again.
But who actually came up with the great idea of the bratwurst vaccination? The secret godfather was probably Markus Söder a week earlier:
So you have to say without malice that the bratwurst perhaps achieved more than some vaccination campaigns:
Conclusion
The end justifies the means: If bratwursts help to increase the vaccination rate, then so be it. Even if the vaccination without registration was certainly an incentive.
But be careful: Although there are microchips in the vaccinations that are controlled using 5G ( wink, wink ), that doesn't mean that the bratwurst will improve reception!
