The mysterious Facebook apparition is back! In the endless maelstrom of the Facebook universe, a special treat will once again appear in June 2023 that will confuse innocent users. The object of confusion: a supposed free ticket for a fun visit to a brothel, supposedly donated by the city of Celle. At this point we remember our reporting from 2017 .

A closer look at the 'free ticket'
The so-called free ticket is adorned with the following print, which stimulates the imagination in its conciseness:
“Social certificate from the city of Celle Free ticket for a one-time free brothel visit Not transferable No. 009175 This free ticket is only valid Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.!”
| Claims | Fact check |
|---|---|
| The city of Celle issues free tickets for brothel visits. | Incorrect . There is no evidence that the city of Celle or any other state institution issues such free tickets. |
| The free tickets are an offer for social welfare recipients. | Incorrect . No German city or social welfare office provides brothel-free cards for welfare recipients. |
| There were similar cases in Bavaria and Graz, where such free tickets were issued. | Incorrect . These claims have also turned out to be fake. |
| The free tickets are an official document and have a similar design, regardless of the city or state. | Incorrect . All free cards that have appeared so far follow the same pattern and appear to come from the same source, which underlines their lack of credibility. |
| The free tickets first appeared in 2011. | Correct . Pictures of such “free tickets” have actually been available online since 2011. |
| The free tickets are a joke item from the 80s. | Correct . There is evidence that such “free tickets” truly exist as joke items and have been in circulation since the 1980s. |
The sobering truth
Does the city of Celle actually have a heart for lonely hearts and gives them a free pass to the brothel? The answer is clear: no, of course not. Similar cards have made the rounds in the past and been exposed for what they are - counterfeits, sometimes even as part of a deliberately staged deception.
History repeats itself: the cases of 2016 and 2015
A journey into the past takes us to 2016, when we reported on a similar case. The protagonist at the time: a free ticket to the brothel, specially issued for refugees and generously donated by the social welfare office of the Free State of Bavaria.

We also reported on a similar case in 2015, this time with a “ free ticket ” from the city of Graz, Austria.

A pattern becomes apparent
A quick glance is enough to see that all three cards were clearly created by the same “artist”, meaning they follow the same pattern. The map from Bavaria in particular is very similar to the one from Celle - both in design and content.
Even further back in time: the year 2011
A jump into the time machine even takes us back to 2011. Back then, long before the large influx of refugees, pictures of these “free tickets” appeared on the Internet, for example on lachschon.de

The unmistakable conclusion
And now for the crowning conclusion, a conclusion as clear as the water of the Lüneburg Heath: No, no, no and no again. No. Nyet. Nothing. Nada. Njente. There are no free tickets to the brothel, not for refugees, not for welfare recipients, not in Germany, not in Austria. Not even for us, the brave fact-checkers at Mimikama.
The joke article from the 80s and its current relevance
This is nothing more than an old-fashioned joke that has been around since at least the 80s .
So if you have to resort to such antiquated jokes to channel your frustration towards refugees, then it's probably time to examine your own moral compass. Instead of shouting 'lying press' and spreading such hoaxes, it might make more sense to engage in an honest discussion.
