The claim
In a photographed document, an officer in the Bundeswehr demands that gender-appropriate language is no longer used in his office.
Our conclusion
The document is apparently genuine, but the demand to refrain from using gender-appropriate language in the office is not permitted; That officer is not allowed to ignore the legal regulations of the Bundeswehr.
A photo of a document is circulating on social media. In the letter, an officer apparently prohibits “language gendering” at his office. But in doing so he is illegally ignoring legal regulations for the Bundeswehr.
The photo of the document
The photo is circulating both in a version in which the officer's name has been redacted and in a person with the officer's name. Of course, for data protection reasons, we only show an unrecognizable version:

The document says:
“I hereby prohibit the so-called “language gendering” at this training and combat service office.
In addition, mentioning the “gender gap” should generally be avoided.
(The words officer_:*inners, breacher_:*inners and service dogs_:*inners – leader_:*inners do not exist in the German language.)”
A phantom demand
Actually, that officer only expressed two things: that he doesn't like gendered language and that he doesn't know the Bundeswehr's guidelines.
It is completely unnecessary to prohibit “officers”, for example, as the word really does not exist in the Bundeswehr. The “ Guidelines for linguistic equal treatment of soldiers ” stipulate that although clear and gender-equitable language should be used, ranks and job titles are not gendered.

In general, however, according to the Bundeswehr's guidelines, attention should be paid to gender-appropriate language. The photo of the document also circulated on Twitter (the tweet has since been deleted), to which the official Bundeswehr account replied:
“The law has stipulated since 2001 that all federal departments and employees should express equality between women and men linguistically (Section 1 Paragraph 2 BGleiG 2001, Section 4 Paragraph 3 BGleiG 2015 and new version 2021).”

A spokeswoman for the Bundeswehr explained to colleagues at “ Correctiv ” that the letter, which appears to be genuine, does not contain a valid demand:
“There are legal regulations about this. An officer is not allowed to ignore this on his own.”
Conclusion
The document is apparently genuine, but the demand to refrain from using gender-appropriate language in the office is not permitted; That officer is not allowed to ignore the legal regulations of the Bundeswehr.
