There, over 700 would-be princesses from 1001 Nights would be allowed to spend the rest of their lives next door to each other in their own fairytale dream castle.
True to the motto: “ All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” “
(“All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” – Walt Disney)
Can you imagine?
A castle and another castle and another castle and another castle? You can currently find several photos and posts about it on Facebook. And in the end the whole thing looks like this:
Magical, isn't it?
I have a dream
What may at first glance look like an assisted living facility for discarded Disney princesses is actually one of the largest, never completed construction projects in Turkey. Between Istanbul and Ankara, nestled between forests and mountains, is Burj Al Baba, the “Valley of Towers”, as it was lovingly christened by the builders, two Turkish real estate entrepreneurs.
Apparently inspired by Istanbul's landmark Gala Tower and a visit to Disney Land, over 580 towers stretch just three kilometers from the center of Mudurnu. Wealthy buyers from the Gulf States were supposed to enjoy the Mediterranean climate on their roof terraces - surrounded by hot springs and shopping centers.
Speculated
What started so beautifully in 2014 ended in bankruptcy four years later. The economic situation worsened due to increasing terrorist attacks and a failed coup attempt, and investors and buyers withdrew their money from the 200 billion Burj Al Baba project.
At this point, 350 of the 735 villas, valued between $370,000 and $530,000, had already been sold.
Lost place of superlatives
Ultimately, all that remains from this project are shattered dreams, half-finished and crumbling fairytale castles, and the perfect backdrop for low-budget teen horror films .
