Vaccinations are actually a method to decimate humanity, many anti-vaxxers agree. A blog known for its fake news is now taking this approach and claiming in an article that the Merck company has admitted that vaccinations contain cancer viruses.

This is what the “News for Friends” site writes:
“The pharmaceutical company MERCK has admitted that the world tragedy, which seemed to be the result of unbalanced thinking, is unfortunately a reality that we must face. The company has admitted that it inoculated the cancer virus through vaccines.”
It is also alleged that there is an interview conducted by medical historian Edward Shorter for Boston Public Television WGBH and Blackell Science in which a Merck employee admits that the SV40 virus is added to vaccines.
We'll leave the next sentence in the article uncommented (for now). Since “News for Friends” used Google Translate, it sounds a little confusing, but we’ll explain the meaning behind it:
"This film, in the documentary "In Lies We Trust: the CIA, Hollywood and Bioterrorism" made and released by consumer protection associations and public health expert, Dr. Leonard Horowitz, an interview with the world's leading vaccine expert, Dr. Maurice Hilleman created "which explains why Merck spreads l'AIDS, leukemia and other terrible diseases."
Roughly decoded: Dr. In a documentary, Leonard Horowitz shows an interview with Dr. Maurice Hillerman. In the interview he explains why the Merck company spreads diseases.
You can already see that there is a lot of juggling with names and claims, topped off with a film on YouTube called “ In Lies We Trust: The CIA, Hollywood and Bioterrorism” (the original title).
In order to make it understandable how this claim comes about and which roles which people play, we will proceed step by step.
The protagonists
- Edward Shorter : Medical historian. He conducted an interview with Dr. Maurice Hilleman. Since Hillemann died in 2005, this must have happened before. A video of the interview could not be found, but a book called “ The Health Century. A Companion to the PBS Television Series from 1988. The interview in question can also be found in that book, which we will discuss later.
- Maurice R. Hilleman : Developed 36 vaccines at Merck & Co., eight of which are still in use today. Died in 2005 at the age of 85.
- Leonard Horowitz : Former dentist, now advocate of healing through sound, contributor to the “In Lies We Trust” video, supporter of various conspiracy theories such as chemtrails, the AIDS lie and Ebola Gate.
The timing
In 1988 or earlier, medical historian Edward Shorter conducted an interview with Dr. Maurice Hilleman, vaccine expert. This interview actually appears in the film “In Lies We Trust”. Since it is protected by copyright, we will not link to illegal uploads, but we will write to you here which point in the film is crucial (after about two hours in the film). The following part of the interview forms the basis of the conspiracy theory:
Dr Edward Shorter: Tell me how you found SV40 and the polio vaccine.
Dr Maurice Hilleman: Well, that was at Merck. Yeah, I came to Merck. And uh, I was going to develop vaccines. And we had wild viruses in those days. You remember the wild monkey kidney viruses and so forth? And I finally after 6 months gave up and said that you cannot develop vaccines with these damn monkeys, we're finished and if I can't do something I'm going to quit, I'm not going to try it. So I went down to see Bill Mann at the zoo in Washington DC and I told Bill Mann, I said “look, I got a problem and I don't know what the hell to do.” Bill Mann is a really bright guy. I said that these lousy monkeys are picking it up while being stored in the airports in transit, loading, offloading. He said, very simply, you go ahead and get your monkeys out of West Africa and get the African Green, bring them into Madrid unload them there, there is no other traffic there for animals, fly them into Philadelphia and pick them up. Or fly them into New York and pick them up, right off the airplane. So we brought African Greens in and I didn't know we were importing the AIDS virus at the time.
Miscellaneous background voices: …(laughter)...it was you who introduced the AIDS virus into the country. Now we know! (laughter) This is the real story! (laughter) What Merck won't do to develop a vaccine! (laughter).
In German:
Dr. Edward Shorter : Tell me how you discovered SV40 and the polio vaccine.
Dr. Maurice Hilleman : Well, that was at Merck. Yes, I came to Merck. And I wanted to develop vaccines. And we had wild viruses back then. Remember the wild monkey kidney viruses and so on? And finally after 6 months I gave up and said you can't develop vaccines with these damn monkeys, we're done, and if I can't do something I won't try. So I went down to meet Bill Mann at the zoo in Washington DC and I said to Bill Mann, "Look, I have a problem and I don't know what to do." Bill Mann is a smart guy. I said that these lousy monkeys get sick while they are stored in the airports during transit, loading and unloading. He said, quite simply, you get your monkeys from West Africa and bring them to Madrid, unload them there, there is no other traffic for animals there, fly them to Philadelphia and pick them up. Or fly her to New York and pick her up there, straight off the plane. So we brought vervet monkeys with us, and I didn't know that we were importing the AIDS virus at the time.
Various background voices :….. (laughter)... It was you who brought the AIDS virus into the country. Now we know! (Laughter) That's the true story! (Laughter) What Merck doesn't do to develop a vaccine! (Laughter).
Time jump to 1959 : At the National Institutes of Health, a researcher named Bernice Eddy discovered that various monkey kidney cells die for no apparent reason. At that time, polio vaccines were developed from monkey kidneys. In that vaccine, developed by Jonas Salk and Albert Sabin, killed polio viruses were injected to produce an antibody response. The problem: These vaccinations also contained the SV40 virus, which Hilleman had just discovered. Although this virus was also deactivated by the formaldehyde contained in the vaccination, the so-called Sabin vaccination was a live vaccination and therefore also contained live SV40 viruses.
1961 found that a third of polio vaccines were contaminated with SV40. There was no evidence yet that the virus was harmful to humans, but every effort was made to remove the virus from future vaccines and monkeys. Rhesus monkeys were no longer used; instead they wanted to use vervet monkeys.
And this is where conspiracy theorists come in
That last sentence in the paragraph above is where Dr.
Hilleman cited in the interview. The vaccines were recalled without informing the population about the SV40 contamination. Millions of people had received the polio vaccination by then; the aim was to avoid mass panic. Conclusion of the conspiracy theorists : Since 1961, polio vaccinations have contained the HIV virus. In fact, there is at least one theory about the spread of AIDS based on unethical oral polio vaccinations in Africa in the late 1950s. But that was all the connections between SV40, HIV and vaccinations.
I read SV40 all the time! Is this a “cancer virus”?
This virus has actually caused cancer in hamsters, but there is no evidence of this . Quite apart from the fact that there has not been a vaccine containing SV40 since 1963, when the last vaccine containing SV40 was withdrawn from the market.
Let's summarize
There have been no vaccines containing SV40 since the early 1960s. The scientist who worked for Merck discovered this virus himself. He also gave an interview about its discovery. During the interview, viewers joked that Merck imported AIDS to make vaccines.
That interview, the audience's heckling, the actual contamination of polio vaccinations in the early 1960s, and distrust of the government led Horowitz to believe that AIDS and cancer were being intentionally spread through the population through vaccinations.
And finally, a panic-mongering blog called “News for Friends” comes along, translates an Italian article from an equally dubious site using Google, throws in “leukemia and other terrible diseases,” adds the video and thereby helps a conspiracy theory come alive that gets a lot of clicks.
