In Germany, cannabis has been used in pain therapy since 2017. But can cannabis also shrink tumors?
Claim: Cannabis shrinks tumors
There are too few or insufficient studies on whether cannabis actually shrinks tumors.
Nevertheless, cannabis has been used in medicine for pain therapy since 2017.
We constantly receive questions about how cannabis works. This is about the following claim that cannabis is able to shrink tumors:

Cannabis shrinks tumors and the government has known it since 1974
The fact check
We have received inquiries about similar statements in the past. (see here and here )
According to Jutta Hübner the fact that cannabis shrinks tumors is far from a fact [as of December 20, 2019]. Studies that exist on this subject are only cell experiments in which cannabinoids only inhibited the growth of tumor cells. But that has no meaning whatsoever for the human situation.
cannabis have been legally allowed to be prescribed in Germany since 2017 . After an examination, the costs are even covered by the health insurance company.

the German Cancer Society , cannabis has been shown in studies to treat spasticity in multiple sclerosis, nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy and in combating loss of appetite in HIV/AIDS patients. Studies also focus on the use of cannabis medicines in pain therapy.
The researchers came to the conclusion in both 2018 and 2019 that the current state of knowledge regarding the use of cannabis-based medications for chronic pain and especially the use of medical cannabis is still inadequate. (see the study “ Cannabis: Potential and Risks. A Scientific Review (CaPRis) ” and the position paper on medical cannabis and cannabis-based medications in pain medicine )
Conclusion:
There are still insufficient studies to support the claim that cannabis “shrinks tumors.” Nevertheless, the healing powers of the plant are recognized in medicine and have been prescribed in the form of cannabis-based medicines since 2017.
