One of the disadvantages of the Internet is that you can never be sure how old an alert really is
We first reported on it in 2011 , but it all started in 2007.
It's about an image that shows the following information on a yellow background:

CAUTION!!!
Subject: ATTENTION New cell phone number - be sure to read it!!!!New cell phone catch number
Please pass this on to everyone you know!
“0650 666 50 40” is a scam number!
The POLICE are already feverishly investigating who was responsible
(so far there have always been *0900* numbers)The text message usually comes with the text:
“Sorry, I forgot who you are and still saved your cell phone number. can you please answer me and tell me who you are?If you answer by SMS or call, a CONTRACT is created and horrendous sums are deducted from your bill!!!!

Since it has been sent more frequently recently and is unsettling users, we are looking at this image again because:
[vc_message message_box_color=”green” icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-check”]The content was correct but… [/mk_info]
So the warning was correct at the time, but it is no longer VALID because this number no longer exists!
We forwarded this information to RTR (Rundfunk & Telekom Regels-GmbH) and received the following response:
Dear Mimikama team,
we confirm receipt of your request. We are aware of the email you described and T-Mobile Austria was also informed about it. According to our information, the affected number has since been taken off the network.
According to legal regulations, no value-added service may be connected behind a “normal” mobile phone number.
In general, before using a value-added service, you must be informed free of charge about the type of service, the costs, etc. If you are interested, the legal regulations (§§ 104 ff Communication Parameters, Remuneration and Value-Added Services Ordinance, KEM-V for short) can be accessed http://www.rtr.at/de/tk/KEMV
If a value-added service has been charged by calling 0650/6665040, we recommend submitting a written billing objection to the respective operator. Information about the arbitration procedure at the RTR-GmbH arbitration board can be found at http://www.rtr.at/de/tk/SchlichtungsstelleRTR .
We would also like to mention that the arbitration board only received inquiries based on this email and not based on a specific SMS.
Best regards
Your RTR team
