IMPORTANT

Please tell all contacts in your Messenger list not to accept anything from Fabrizio Brambilla. He has a photo with a dog. He is a hacker and has connected the system to your messenger account. If one of your contacts accepts it, you will also be hacked, so make sure all of your friends know. Thank you . Please forward"

The fact check

Two things stand out clearly in this description. On the one hand, the information that a danger is spreading via the messenger, and on the other hand, that you are being “hacked” through it. If you now reduce this warning to these two core elements, then you notice a strong similarity to the feeling of concern with the so-called “YouTube virus”. Those affected always believe that they have been attacked by a hacker via messenger.

Chain letters!

By the way, the warning about Fabrizio Brambilla is not new either, as we already had this warning in Dutch in the summer of 2017:

With this status post/chain letter, Fabrizio joins the list of alleged hackers on Facebook. Here is a selection of his most famous counterparts:

It is therefore a chain letter that may have arisen from a wide variety of observations. Nobody can prove anything anymore, you can only make assumptions.

Our tip: In general, you should not accept friend requests from strangers without checking them. Ignore such texts and do not forward them!
