Be careful, at the moment many users are receiving an SMS in which fraudsters pretend there is a problem with a package. The SMS leads to a trap.
As the Wesel police warn in a press release, a parcel fraud scam has been circulating for some time.
Everyone knows it: got the great deal online two days ago and now you're eagerly waiting for the package. Suddenly you get a text message from the shipping company. Something is wrong with the package, delivery is delayed.
You can check the status of the package by clicking on a link in the SMS. In our case, the package was stopped at the shipping center because it was allegedly too heavy. After an additional payment of 2 euros, the delivery will supposedly continue.

In the next step, the fraudsters want you to enter your personal information including your credit card number. By now everyone should listen up and stop the process, because you are probably falling into a trap.
Therefore we warn:
Do not follow unknown links on the Internet and do not provide any personal information about yourself on unknown websites. If in doubt, be sure to contact the shipping service provider by telephone.
At this point we would also like to recommend the prevention tips from the State Criminal Police Office of North Rhine-Westphalia . Although these are not specifically tailored to this scam, they provide you with important information about buying online and how to recognize “online fraudsters”.
If you have become a victim of such a crime, report it to the nearest police station. Also warn friends and relatives.
