In the age of a wide variety of messenger platforms, the classic SMS had actually had its day. But now it is experiencing a revival as an opportunity for hackers and fraudsters.
Malicious link in SMS
Whether it's a supposed parcel notification, a bank message or another message that claims to contain important information - you should always click on a link contained in the SMS. The link hides dangers, such as a manipulated website or the download of malware. This can also be expensive, especially if there is no third-party blocking included in the mobile phone contract.

Do not click links in SMS
The police advise you not to click on the link contained in the SMS messages under any circumstances. This applies to all available operating systems. If you accidentally clicked on the link and activated the malware, it is important to react immediately.
First aid tips
- Put your phone in airplane mode
- Back up important data manually
- Try to uninstall the malware
In an absolute emergency, the phone must be reset to factory settings.
Suitable for:
- Fraud: Calls from alleged bank employees
- Fraud: spying on data
- Scam: Do not forward WhatsApp verification codes
- Fraud: The “WhatsApp Cry for Help”
- Scam: Call from fake Microsoft employees
