A man is said to have paid women from Asia to sexually abuse children in front of a webcam.
- Man arrested for online child abuse
- A case of online child abuse was solved by investigators from the Federal Criminal Police Office and the Upper Austria State Criminal Police Office.
- A 37-year-old man from the Vöcklabruck district is suspected of having exchanged, hoarded and also commissioned relevant material.
Special investigators from the Federal Criminal Police Office (Austria) obtained information about a child porn case with links to Upper Austria. The Upper Austrian State Criminal Police Office (LKA) was then called in. After extensive investigative work, the LKA officials succeeded in clarifying the case of online child abuse/child pornography, which reached as far as the Far East. A 37-year-old man from the Vöcklabruck district is suspected of having exchanged, hoarded and also commissioned relevant material.
The impetus for the success was an investigation based on an upload of relevant material that showed child abuse. This was followed by a house search of the 37-year-old suspect on August 28, 2022, where various smartphones and computers, game consoles and other data storage media were seized. During the forensic analysis of these electronic data carriers, it emerged that the man was in possession of over 4,000 images containing child pornographic abuse content. Confronted with the crime, the accused denied any guilt at the time.
Abuse in live chat
Further investigations by the LKA revealed that the accused also ran relevant live video chats. The 37-year-old was in contact with women from East Asia - especially the Philippines. During these seized chats, the suspect instructed these women to abuse children in front of the running webcam according to his own instructions. There were both attempts and consummated perpetration.
The victims of these acts were probably between the ages of around 2 months and a maximum of 6 years, as captured screenshots show.
Based on these new findings, the Wels public prosecutor's office ordered the arrest of the accused and a new house search, which was carried out by the police on January 28, 2023. The officers from the LKA Upper Austria once again seized various electronic data carriers (smartphones, hard drives, USB sticks, etc.).
During the new interrogation of the accused, the 37-year-old now largely confessed and also admitted to the renewed acquisition of child pornographic abuse files. In particular, he also admitted to having directed other people to sexually abuse children via live chats since at least 2016. This also resulted in money flows from the 37-year-old to the abusers. The accused has now been admitted to the Wels prison.
