An almost three-year-old video from a Swiss news site is currently being shared in which it is suspected that live baby mice are a delicacy in China.

The nearly minute-long video on the site shows how naked and blind baby mice are dipped in sauce and put into their mouths by a man. At least in the short description of the video there is an important point that is not mentioned in the video: “ A delicacy that is foreign even to most Chinese people. “
Looking for clues
On YouTube you can find a video from August 19, 2015, which shows in its entirety and uncut how a mouse is put into the mouth and the chewing process begins. This video talks about a “Chinese Guy”. If you watch the video, you can see from his face that it's probably not that normal to eat a whole, live mouse. But this is speculative and just a careful analysis of his facial expressions. Likewise, this video ends after 14 seconds; no visible swallowing process can be seen. However, we do not want to rule out the possibility that this took place. We just don't know because you can't see it.

Same result
colleagues at Vice were also active and found the same video as us based on the Focus article. At least this one. This video lay dormant for almost four months in 2015 with only two views before it suddenly spread and gained attention.

Some bizarre videos
On YouTube there are now actually some videos in the suggestion bar that have bizarre names. You can at least assume that these videos are “real”.

So is that true or not?
There has been speculation about this for a lot longer, since at least 2001 . At that time, a Chinese reporter went looking for the so-called “Three Cries Menu,” as it is also called. The result is sobering: Although he found a few chefs who had at least heard of it, and he was also given precise location information about where the dish should be served, he couldn't find it anywhere.
So the status remains unproven .
In the only video so far in which you can see someone at least putting a mouse in their mouth, you don't see him chewing it. Rumors about this menu have been around for nearly 20 years (this reporter heard that the dish was served in Guangdong a few years ago), but no other video, photos, or descriptions have emerged since then that conclusively prove the menu's existence.
