Most Christmas markets are open and attract guests to mulled wine and beer stalls. At the same time, the season of Christmas celebrations begins at the end of the year.
“Everyone” should remember to plan their trips home in advance if they visit a Christmas market or take part in a Christmas party. Because a beer here and a mulled wine there can be too much for the journey home. In the event of an accident or unsafe driving, just 0.3 per mille in the blood is enough to come into conflict with the law.
Against this background, there were TISPOL controls across Europe. From Monday, December 9th to Sunday, December 15th. The police are carrying out increased alcohol and drug checks. The accident figures show that alcohol and other intoxicants continue to play a particularly important role in causing accidents.

In 2018, a total of 279 traffic accidents occurred under the influence of alcohol. A total of 115 people were injured. There were also 79 traffic accidents in which the influence of drugs or medication could be proven. 42 people were injured in these accidents.
Also at the Christmas market: Don't drink and drive!
The police are therefore asking everyone not to get behind the wheel after drinking alcohol. “Leave your car, motorcycle or bicycle at home and use public transport or a taxi or have someone pick you up instead!”

On Monday, December 9th The police have already started targeted checks. The controls also include the so-called “hidden routes”. That's why the police give the important advice not to get behind the wheel after drinking alcohol or drugs. Because the possible loss of your driving license shouldn't be a nice Christmas present. By the way: Even after the inspection week, the police will continue their alcohol and drug checks .
