Fake page on Facebook
But be careful, this is a fake site! The zoo logo and contact details are misused here.
The fake site “Cologne Zoo” has existed since July 2013, but its original name was different. On June 7, 2023, this was changed accordingly, as you can see in the page transparency:
There are a few posts on the site that are intended to give the impression that it is a real zoo site.
Photos of a wide variety of animals with associated information. Interesting, however, that there was no activity on this site before June 10, 2023. So all posts and pictures were only posted to make the fake competition and the Facebook page behind it appear more serious.
The alleged competition is placed as an advertisement on Facebook by this site and receives a lot of attention. This one ad alone has already received over 5,000 comments and the post has been shared 270 times. If you look at the active advertisements on this site, you can see that it is currently being played 31 times. A multiplier that probably lures thousands of users into a trap.

Back in May there was a real wave of fake competitions that were supposedly organized by various zoos. We reported HERE . In April, the Schönbrunn Zoo in Vienna was affected (HERE) . – Not only user data was collected here, but also bank details were requested.
Conclusion
The competition is not real.
In the case of the current fake competition in the name of the Cologne Zoo, we are still waiting for a response from the fake site (yes, we “participated”) so that we can check what exactly is behind it. In our experience, there are probably data collectors behind this who obtain a lot of users' personal and sensitive data in this way. But expensive subscriptions or malware are also possible “profits” from such a fake.
One user reported that - in order to receive the prize - you only have to pay for the shipping costs. And to do this you have to provide your credit card details.
Therefore: stay away! Also warn and inform friends and acquaintances who may have already taken part!
