The corona incidence across Germany is currently around 680. Hospitals are already worried about overload in view of the upcoming winter and a new wave of the coronavirus.
Working despite a positive rapid test
In the “Working 2022” study by the company health insurance company pronova BKK, 1,200 people were surveyed. According to the study, if the course is mild, one in ten goes to the office or company. 20 percent of those surveyed said they went to work despite an infection.
In addition to around nine percent of people infected with corona, another 20 percent come to work with contagious infections. Only 28 percent would stay at home.
Unreasonable danger
n-tv doctors warn against going to work when sick. Not only can you infect others, but too little rest also has a negative impact on your own health. Going to work with a corona infection is an “unreasonable risk”.
“If you don’t heal yourself in peace, you risk that viral diseases will also attack the heart or other organs or that symptoms that have been suppressed by medication will worsen. Employees can also become infected.”
Gerd Herold, consultant doctor at pronova BKK
A doctor from pronova BKK explained that I had not changed the habit of many Germans of going to work when sick, even despite the corona pandemic. Many are worried about their job or being “seen as lazy” or do not want to expect their colleagues to cover for them if they stay at home due to illness.
Protective measures are definitely desirable at work
In order to feel safer, 48 percent of working people are in favor of wearing masks at work again. Just as many are in favor of regular corona tests for employees. 41 percent are in favor of regular disinfection. And 41 percent are also in favor of seating fewer people in each room, or 40 percent are generally in favor of larger distances.
Home office is not a desired long-term solution
Even if the risk of infection is reduced when working from home, only two percent of those under 30 and four percent of all respondents say they only want to work from home to be safe.
In principle, 65 percent of employees in Germany have the opportunity to work from home. 30 percent of them already see this as the “new normal”. But 64 percent do not want to use working from home as a permanent solution.
