The Austrian Interior Ministry warns via press release:
In the past few hours, false reports about the corona virus and the measures allegedly resulting from it have been increasingly spread via social networks and other Internet-based communication services.
“Everyone can help in overcoming the current challenges in different ways – be it by observing hygiene measures or by reducing social contacts,”
said Interior Minister Karl Nehammer.
“But I also appeal to everyone’s sense of responsibility not to spread rumors – whether verbally or via other electronic communication services. This makes the work of the authorities and the emergency organizations involved more difficult,”
added Interior Minister Nehammer.
“In this situation, it is particularly important to solve the tasks at hand calmly and calmly. I would particularly like to warn against false reports circulating on social media or other communication channels.
I call on Austrians: only trust the communications from the public authorities and the responsible ministries,”
said the Interior Minister.
“The entire federal government is committed to informing people promptly and quickly about current developments,”
