A compilation of several videos is said to show that people infected with COVID-19 are being shot in China.

A video is supposed to prove that infected people in China are being shot by the police

In several scenes you can see armed people, people lying on the ground and the sounds of gunfire.
The scenes show the hunt for a rabid dog, people being cared for in front of a hospital and a traffic accident. The gunshot sounds are fireworks and were subsequently re-edited.

In the 59-second video you can see several scenes with people lying on the ground, in the background you can hear shots and machine gun fire. At the beginning you can also see three armed people.

The video is also shared on Facebook with German descriptions:

The video is a compilation of several videos that have been edited together and some with different sound.
Below we look at the individual sequences of the video.

Scene 1 and 2

Three men arm themselves
Three men arm themselves

In the first seconds of the video you can see three men arming themselves in front of a police car. In the next scene, the same men are seen walking through a narrow street between two complexes of houses with weapons clearly visible.

Fact check:

This 15-second sequence was first posted on Twitter . However, in the comments on the tweet it is explained that the video is from 2018 and comes from Yiwu in Zhejiang Province, and a Yiwu dialect is spoken in the video. Two people were bitten by rabid dogs and the police hunted down the dogs.

Police also confirmed that the scenes were from the hunt for a rabid dog.

Scene 3

People are taken care of

In the third scene you can see several people lying on the ground being cared for by doctors. In between, passers-by walk without face masks, and regular banging noises can be heard in the background.

Fact check

Surprisingly, both the people lying on the ground and the alleged shots do not seem to worry the passers-by in the least in the video; no panic-like reaction can be seen. You also don't see any blood next to the people lying on the ground.

For example, the video was published in a better version on Twitter
on January 26, 2020 The description of the tweet says that these are people who cannot go to the hospital due to overcrowding and are being cared for by doctors on the street.

And as for the “gunshots,” the tweet says that you can hear Chinese New Year fireworks in the background, which also explains the regularity of the sounds: they are fireworks being fired automatically.

Scene 4

In the fourth scene you can see a person lying on the ground, wailing and the sounds of shots and machine guns can be heard in the background.
This scene, which is singled out to be the most widely circulated, is said to be of a woman trying to escape a quarantine zone and being shot by police.

Fact check

What is striking is that this scene does not contain the gunshot sounds other sites !

The French colleagues from “ Les Observateurs ” examined this scene very closely.
Since the scene took place in Wuzu, it is worth taking a look at the live map , which shows the current cases of illness. There you can see that there are currently no infected people in Wuzu at all.

“Les Observateurs” contacted a resident of the small town, who was able to confirm that the video came from there. However, the description is completely wrong!

“I can confirm that the scene was filmed in Wuzu in front of Siyuan School on January 29, 2020.
I live right next door and several of my friends came over when the tragedy happened. “But it’s not a woman lying on the ground, but a young man who wasn’t killed by the police, but had a motorcycle accident.”

Zhang W. also sent Les Observateurs another video of the event, which also shows a boundary stone that came loose and a motorcycle lying on its side, both of which support the resident's account.

“Les Observateurs” also received additional screenshots of residents’ chats about the accident, as well as the police report. This was:

“On the afternoon of January 29, a one-way traffic accident [involving only one vehicle] occurred in Wuzu City. The affected person was riding a scooter and due to an improper maneuver, he swerved to the side of the road, hit the rocks along the edge and fell on the back of his head and unfortunately died. The driver was solely responsible. “The traffic police, local police and health center staff quickly arrived at the scene to deal with the accident,” the police station director said, before denouncing the spread of rumors.”

Conclusion

The video shows four different scenes from different locations at different times.
Particularly perfidious: the gunshot noises in the third scene were just firecrackers; in the fourth scene they were added later.

Ultimately, the manipulative and post-edited video provides no evidence that refugees are being shot in China.
