As quickly as the new coronavirus is spreading, fake news and misleading reports about it are also spreading.
The cybersecurity service provider NewsGuard has therefore made it its mission to publish a constantly updated list of international news platforms that are notable for repeatedly and apparently deliberately spreading false information about the new coronavirus.
Among the websites from the USA, Great Britain, France, Italy and Germany, there are both sites that regularly publish false and sometimes dangerous health tips (especially the NaturalNews network , which has a total of 54 subdomains), as well as politically oriented sites that sometimes spreading absurd conspiracy theories (“ Hillary Clinton is a reptilian ”).
But relatively credible websites are also listed that generally stick to the facts, but when reporting on the new coronavirus they are often entangled in assumptions and false claims, which are then presented as facts.

Below we list the websites from Germany listed so far.
Pravda-TV.com
The website, run by author Nikolas Pravda, regularly publishes false claims about political and health issues, including claims that members of the British royal family were reptilians or that dinosaurs were actually aliens that still exist in the deep sea.
The site claims, among other things, that Bill Gates and the CIA developed , our fact check here .
Compact-Online.de
The website of the monthly magazine “Compact” regularly publishes false or highly exaggerated content, which mainly supports the views and demands of the AfD. To this end, some clearly refutable Russian disinformation campaigns are presented as facts.
When it comes to articles about the new coronavirus, the site mostly mixes facts with assumptions, which are cleverly always accompanied by a question mark, and scaremongering. The emphasis is always on a global economic crisis caused by the virus, which is described in more detail in a book that is conveniently available in the Compact Shop.
JournalistsWatch.com
The website's articles are mainly based on misleading, exaggerated or unproven claims, which often have a strong right-wing extremist character.
When it comes to coronavirus, for example, the site reports that “the Reds” dream is “the new horror scenario according to the Harakiri sect of Saint Gretl” .

Deutschland-Kurier.org
The conservative pro-AfD / anti-migration site mainly publishes national and international political news. Demonstrably false articles have often been published and never corrected.
With regard to reports about the new coronavirus, reports about it are being converted into one's own agenda: despite the new coronavirus, “a new migrant boat has arrived ,” and an alleged secret report (which of course only this site knows about) supposedly of a coronavirus epidemic from Africa Migrants.
EpochTimes.de
The German edition of the Epoch Times, a conservative website founded by John Tang. Originally published as a printed Chinese newspaper in the USA, Epoch Times describes itself as a practicing member of the Falun Gong sect.
When it comes to coronavirus, the site largely follows reports from national and international press agencies, but often mixes facts and opinions. Rumors are also often taken as facts, for example that people who are still alive burned .
De.SputnikNews.com
This is the German-language website of a Russian state news agency, which often publishes propaganda and disinformation that is in Russia's interests.
Regarding the new coronavirus, the reports are quite neutral; they are based on the official reports from national and international news agencies. Reports should still be viewed with caution, as assumptions and rumors have often been presented as fact.
